Who Deepak is

Deepak Middha founded TaxSaveIQ and reviews the methodology, assumptions, and source data behind its calculators. He is a Chartered Accountant, a qualification recognized by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and has 18 years in hedge-fund accounting and taxation.

He has also passed the Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser Law Examination. That examination covers investment-adviser regulation and securities law; passing it is not a licence or a registration, and Deepak does not provide investment-advisory services through TaxSaveIQ.

He built TaxSaveIQ to make sophisticated tax-planning calculations understandable and freely accessible — no account, no upsell, and calculator inputs that stay in your browser.

Why I started TaxSaveIQ

After 18 years doing accounting and tax work in the hedge fund industry, I kept noticing the same gap. The funds I worked with — and the high-net-worth clients alongside them — had access to sophisticated tax planning tools, modeling, and advisers who could answer any question.

Everyday W-2 workers, freelancers, and small business owners had nothing comparable. Most of them meet their taxes once a year, under deadline pressure, through software built to upsell them.

I built TaxSaveIQ to close that gap: free calculators sourced directly from IRS figures and current law, with no logins, no upsells, and calculator inputs that never leave your browser. Just the math, explained plainly, so you can see exactly what you owe and why.

I review the tax data and methodology behind every calculator myself, because clear, correct estimates shouldn't sit behind a paywall or a sales pitch.

What Deepak reviews on TaxSaveIQ

Review means the tax data, formulas, and stated assumptions behind a calculator are checked against official sources before the page goes live and again when the underlying figures change. It is a methodology and data review, not an audit, and it does not cover every line of application code.

  • Tax-year inputs and which year each calculator defaults to
  • Federal brackets and threshold figures
  • Standard deduction amounts by filing status
  • Credits, phaseouts, and their income ranges
  • Retirement contribution and catch-up limits
  • Capital-gains rate thresholds
  • Self-employment tax methodology, including the 92.35% adjustment and the deductible half
  • Calculator formulas and the order in which deductions are applied
  • Stated assumptions and what each tool deliberately leaves out
  • Edge-case handling, such as phaseout boundaries and wage-base limits
  • Source links to the governing official material
  • Plain-English explanations of the results
  • The last-verified date shown on the page

The full process, the source hierarchy, and the per-calculator source map are documented on the editorial methodology page.
